My ASUS V6X00J (V6J) has a Realtek 8168 gigabit PCI ethernet card. Since getting the machine I have been painstakingly compiling the driver from http://realtek.com.tw (firstly R1000 and more recently R8168).
However, since kernel version 2.6.22 these no longer compile. But…
The kernel driver for the Realtek 8169 also works for the RTL8168, even though there is no indication of this in the configuration help (or anywhere else I looked).
